David Lenander:
(12/27/1992) David Lenander of St. Paul, despite annual readings of The Hobbit beginning in fourth grade, was so conscious of the Freudian / Jungian aspects of his poem in this issue that he failed to recognize its roots in Tolkien's work for many months, when he added the subtitle. His early reading continues to bear fruit: he moderates the fantasy book-discussion Rivendell Group, and is chairing the summer '93 Mythopoeic Society Conference on children's fantasy in Minneapolis. His work has previously appeared in TOTU #6, Mythic Circle, The Five Owls, and the Selected Proceedings of the Children's Literature Association Conference.
