Howard Wandrei:
(08/14/1995) Howard Wandrei (1909-1956) was a versatile and prolific shortstory writer for Weird Tales, Astounding, Black Mask, and other pulp magazines. His hardto-find line illustrations have attracted a considerable underground reputation. Wandrei's friend, H.P. Lovecraft, wrote that he was "a weird artist of astonishing skill and genius. Some of his demoniac sketches almost knocked me over with their inspired potency and masterful technique. This kid has gone farther in his art than any of the rest of us in our writing." A collection of Wandrei's fantasy and science fiction, Time Burial, with illustrations by the author, will be released by Fedogan & Bremer in November 1995.
